Blyton Park Race Track3rd August 2017
We count ourselves very lucky to have the great facilities at Blyton Park on our door step.
Blyton Park was opened by Richard Usher back in 2011. He master planned an epic transformation from a disused RAF airfield into the track that we know and love today. Richards drive and enthusiasm for British Motorsport and his love for anything automotive were always at the forefront of his developments. More recently, Blyton Park has been purchased by Lawrence Tomlinson at Genetta, although Richard will remain at the helm to see the next chapter unfold for the circuit. Lawrence is of a similar mindset and supports the same values when it comes to British Motorsport, so we can’t wait to see what they have in store. Very exciting times for Blyton Park, we wish them the very best indeed!
The track is “fast and challenging” reports Usher. It has 9 corners that have mixed radius and complexities spread out over a mile and a half. It’s a challenging environment for car and driver, so it’s the perfect place to improve car control skills and also to fine tune mechanical aspects.
We really enjoy how Blyton Park embrace an alternative side at the circuit. They have filmed some great clips covering events such as “Land v Air”, a race between a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and an aerobatic twister plane in the ultimate hot lap – can you guess who came out on top? It’s inspiring to see such bold projects being undertaken at our local track, great to see and very entertaining to watch.
The circuit has great calibre. The launch of the Audi R8GT was hosted there, Mark Hales filmed the McLaren 570S at the circuit, and many publications including Auto Express have used Blyton Park to test and review new cars.
Our very own Geoff Steel Racing find the track invaluable. Its location to our base in Lincolnshire is ideal for all our fine tuning, testing and driver tuition.
Richard has always made us feel very welcome both on and off the track. We at Classic Classics look forward to showing all our customers the great features at Blyton Park, weather your car is in storage, undergoing maintenance and project work or you’ve just bought your new toy (!!!) we know you will love taking your classic car around this circuit!
